About the volunteering opportunity

Preliminary Information: This volunteer opportunity was booked exclusively by a Volkswagen team through Volkswagen’s “Gemeinsam Engagiert” team events fund as part of the Role Model Program. For this reason, it is protected by a project code. If you’re also interested in a team event, you can find all the information here.

This year, we’ve been given an additional, larger area in addition to the existing garden. Blackberries have already been extensively removed from this area. Some of the pruned material still needs to be hauled away to a dumpster. Now we need lots of helping hands to work with us to remove the small, newly sprouting plants.

Part of the area will already be prepared by September so that a meadow can be created.

Your Tasks

Help out with various tasks throughout the day!

  • On the new property: Remove newly sprouting blackberries, load the pruned blackberry branches from the property into a container, 
  • prepare and establish a meadow area on the newly added property.

What's needed

For this volunteering opportunity you don't need any German skills.
It's an advantage if you enjoy gardening!

What to bring

Please wear work clothes suitable for the weather that can get dirty, and feel free to bring your own
work gloves. Tools are available on site, and meals will be provided.

JANUN's Adventure Nature Garden is an inclusive community garden in which various groups have been actively working for thirteen years. The site is currently being expanded by an area of around 500 square meters. The work in the garden is normally carried out by active members and volunteers in the garden network. We are always happy to receive further support for larger construction sites

JANUN is an association in which young people and young adults are actively involved in social, ecological and societal issues. In various working groups and projects, they deal with topics such as environmental education, climate change, consumption, inclusion, waste avoidance and upcycling and organize workshops, campaigns, seminars and international youth exchanges. JANUN also runs numerous educational programs at schools, runs nature education projects for children and is involved in child and youth participation and open youth work.
